Non-Profit Research Initiative
We're applying AI technologies to neuroscience to heal neural diseases, restore lost capabilities, and ultimately unlock the full potential of the human mind.
Our Mission
Stars&Bears is a non-profit dedicated to developing AI-augmented brain technologies that address neurological diseases and conditions. From stroke, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's to other dementias, traumatic brain injuries, migraine, and depression, we believe AI can help restore, protect, and enhance the human brain.
We bring together neuroscientists, AI researchers, clinicians, and engineers in an open, collaborative environment. Our work is grounded in rigorous science and guided by deep empathy for the people and families affected by neural conditions.
Roadmap
Develop AI models that can decode and interpret neural and blood signals to detect early signs of disease, enable real-time brain monitoring, and personalize treatment plans.
Collect non-invasive brain and blood signals at scale, building robust data curation pipelines and denoising models to create high-quality neural datasets that preserve spatial locality — knowing which brain regions generated which signals — to power the next generation of brain-AI research.
Create non-invasive bidirectional brain-computer interfaces that can restore motor function, speech, and memory by delivering targeted signals to specific brain regions in patients with neural damage or degenerative conditions.
Focus Areas
Current models treat neural signals as a mixed whole. We're building locality-aware AI that maps signals to specific brain regions — so we know not just what the brain is doing, but where, enabling targeted restoration in the future.
Lightweight wearables to detect neurodegenerative conditions — detection is the first step towards restoring.
Intelligent systems for real-time mental health monitoring and intervention, providing personalized support for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and beyond.
Building open datasets and tools that accelerate neuroscience research globally.
Next-generation BCI systems that decode brain and blood signals into intended thoughts and actions, restoring independence for people with paralysis, locked-in syndrome, and motor disorders.
AI-guided rehabilitation programs that adapt in real-time to a patient's neural recovery patterns after stroke, TBI, or surgical intervention.
